Behind the house

After they cut all the soybeans in the field behind the house we went out there for a walk.  We needed to go soon after they cut because after it is plowed it will be too hard to walk through.  The plow leaves deep ruts.  This is our swamp.  On the house side it is very wet for a long way from the creek.  On the other side of the creek we can walk right up to the edge of the creek.  It would have been nice to have it the other way around but we don't control the way the water runs.  The side by the house has a couple of natural springs where the water just runs out of the ground.

The middle of our yard.

The wind break of fir trees.  If we didn't have the fir trees we would really have a huge heating bill as they block almost all the wind from hitting us on this side.  When the field is wide open in the winter it gets pretty gusty back here.

This the scene behind our house.  No matter the season it is always beautiful.

In the woods on the other side of the field, this is the only blip of red left on the trees.
